Butterscotch Ice Cream By Chef Anu

Butterscotch ice cream is a creamy, sweet frozen dessert known for its rich, buttery, and caramel-like flavor.
It gets its distinctive taste from a butterscotch sauce or essence, which is made primarily from a combination of brown sugar and butter.

Key Characteristics

Flavor Profile: The defining feature of butterscotch is the use of brown sugar instead of the white granulated sugar used in caramel. This gives it a deeper, richer, and sweeter flavor with hints of molasses.

Crunchy Bits: Many popular versions of butterscotch ice cream, especially in India, include crunchy "praline" pieces. These are typically made by caramelizing brown sugar with butter and often incorporating nuts like cashews.

Ingredients: The base of the ice cream typically includes heavy cream, milk, and condensed milk. The signature flavor comes from adding butterscotch sauce, butterscotch essence, or a combination of both.
